Rd 1: ch 60, sl st to the first chain, ch 1 and sc around (60)

Attach white; fasten off red
Rd 7-13: sc around (60)

sl st and fasten off.
Top Edging:
Rd 1: Reattach red at foundation ch: sc around (60)
Rd 2: sc around (60), sl st and fasten off
Black ring:
Attach black between the red and white rds with a sl st, and sc around (60).
Sl st, fasten off and weave in end
Circle: start in white with 3.5 hk
Rd 1: ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hk (8)
Rd 2: 2sc around (16)
Rd 3: (2sc, sc)around (24)
Rd 4: switch to black: (2sc, sc in 2) around (32)
Sl st fasten off and sew between white and red rounds
Lining: use bulky white yarn with 4.5 hook
Rd 1: Attach fluffy yarn to the inside stitches that result from Rd 14 and sc around (60)
Rd 2-4: dc around (60). Push inside the cowl to ensure fit. The lining should reach round 2 of the red edging
Sl st and fasten off. Sew to Rd 2 of red edging rd.
Your Pokeball cowl is complete. It also makes a nice warm headband!
Now, you can move on to the hat portion!
Pikachu hat: in yellow with hk 4.5

Stuff and sew to the back of the hat and cowl
Tail: starting in brown
Rd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk (6)
Rd 2-6: sc around (6)
Pause here and bend your pipe cleaner to the shape of the tail (not the rectangle portion at the end) and feed through your sc rds. Continue to sc around the pipe cleaner:
Rd 7-17: sc around (6)
fasten off brown and switch to yellow:
Rd 18-30: sc around (6) — complete rds until pipe cleaner is covered
sl st and fasten off
Attach your second pipe cleaner around your tail in a rectangle shape – see picture
You will now make two rectangles in yellow, which you will sew together and around your pipe cleaner rectangle:
Tail end: (make 2) in yellow
Sew the end of your tail to the cowl with part of it hanging below (see picture). Partially sew the yellow of the tail to the cowl. Sew the brown of the tail to the back of the hat
To make your hat nice and warm, and to help hide all the loose ends, crochet a lining:
